Affinity is a contextual advertising company that delivers over 30 Billion ad impressions each month from North America, Western Europe, Middle East, India, South-East Asia & Australia. I originally found out about them because they were exhibiting at Adtech and since I’m always on the hunt for new traffic sources, I signed up for an account and started running some campaigns with them.

Where Does The Traffic Come From?

In addition to the publishers they work with, Affinity aggregates a bunch of networks together and then allows you to bid on that inventory through their system. Here is an image that shows some of the networks that are plugged into their system according to their website.

So their traffic network is basically a mix of:

  • Toolbars
  • Search Widgets
  • Parked Domains
  • In-text
  • Direct Navigation (they call this “zero click”)

Optimization

In their interface (which is extremely nice), each partner in their network is represented by a source ID {tsid} – You can optimize your campaigns by turning off source ID’s that don’t convert. You can also place a pixel and see your metrics directly in the interface, and you can bid differently by source ID as well.

Text Ads

The text ads are similar to Google Adwords ads, except the headline and description is allowed to be longer.
