WhereGoes.com is a free tool that I’ve been using for the past year or so when I want to trace redirects – It basically shows you a breakdown of the redirects that occur in a nice format. This is useful for:
- Seeing which network an affiliate is running an offer
- Discovering NEW networks 😀
- Testing your own links to make sure the variables are passing correctly (i.e. t202kw=)
- Research: I’ve actually found some epic traffic sources with WhereGoes
Here’s what it looks like in action:
As you can see, this offer is being brokered from EpicLedge or ExclusiveNet. Sure, there are other ways to trace redirects but this is a good alternative for those who aren’t skilled coders and/or don’t know how.
I like to right click —> copy link location on Adwords ads to see the destination URL. I’m not sure if Google charges you for these clicks, but I’m sure it would be easy to get a refund if not. I just do it so that poor chap hopefully doesn’t get charged. I wonder how much $ Google makes in these types of clicks from competitors.
Note: Sometimes the tool doesn’t trace correctly. I would say it works 9 times out of 10. If anyone knows why that is, please leave a comment!
